Some Common Uses: a powerful antispasmodic and is used for cramps especially related to the pelvic organs. It is often used to prevent a miscarriage, and decreases false labor-pains.  The stem bark is a sedative along with antispasmodic, reducing general muscle cramps. Native Americans use the stem bark to treat mumps.
